... a community of Christians
praying towards reconciliation ...

Welcome!!

Welcome to the Austin House of Prayer web site! We are a small community of Christians working towards united 24/7 prayer in the city of Austin.

In addition to the contents of this site, in 2008 we launched a new web site called With 1 Voice (W1V), you may want to visit there as well, especially ...

  • Pastors & Church Leaders -- please visit the Church Track of W1V.
  • High Schoolers & Youth Leaders -- should check out the Young Adult Track of W1V.
Also, you can view online our current schedule of prayer sessions in the prayer room.

Finally, if you want to visit AHOP it may be helpful to view this Google map to help you find the way. The prayer room is open for visiting Monday through Thursday 9 am through 5 pm, and Friday 4 am through Saturday 4 am.

Who is AHOP?

The community is led by Thomas & Amy Cogdell, and staff members include Felipe Adams, Matt & Moriah LaCour, and John Murray. Leaders & staff are part of a small core community of about thirty who work with local churches to see united 24/7 prayer developed in many diverse places around Austin. Current community members are drawn from various churches, including Hope Chapel, Hope in the City, Church of the Hills, Dripping Springs Fellowship, Holy Cross Catholic ... among others.

How can you get involved?

By far the best way to explore AHOP is to visit our community dinner and join us for community prayer on a Friday night. We meet for dinner at 6pm, then prayer at 8pm. Prayer is always at AHOP, but dinner locations vary. You can call 477-AHOP and ask to speak to Moriah, she will tell you where we are meeting for dinner each week.

You can also visit AHOP any time that we are open -- if the building is open, then the prayer room is open! See below for hours and directions. When you come to AHOP, ask around for staff or regulars, who love to show hospitality to visitors.

When & where can you visit?

We are not 24/7 in our prayer room yet ... in fact we are committed to not achieving 24/7 by ourselves, without working with churches throughout Austin. But the prayer room is open for visiting Monday through Thursday 9 am through 5 pm, and Friday 4 am through Saturday 4 am.

The AHOP prayer room is located just off East Martin Luther King Blvd., between Chicon and Airport. Click here for a map & directions from Google.

Why does AHOP exist?
Why do we want to see united 24/7 prayer in Austin?
  • For God -- Who is Worthy! In our time-driven culture, one of the greatest expressions of love is to give another person your undivided attention. This is the core of our vision for day & night praise and prayer -- that Jesus, the Lamb Who was slain, is worthy of this honor from us.
  • For the Church -- growing in beauty! Followers of Jesus are at their best visibly united in giving Him glory. John says the church has a "voice like many waters" (Rev. 19:6) -- one voice composed of many tribes & cultures & languages. May that mighty voice rise in our generation.
  • For ourselves -- made to love Him! The Westminster confession says that "The chief end of man is the glorify God and enjoy Him forever." During times of 24/7 Prayer, many in the city are learning one of the secrets of the prayer room -- that prayer can be enjoyable!
  • For our city -- filled with people who are thirsty! Many people in Austin are in desperate need of reconciliation with their Father who created them and is calling them in love to return to Him. "Let all who are thirsty come and drink freely of the water of life."
